Our office is primarily a Chiropractic office, but like no other in the area. We use High Power Laser Therapy for pain management of the extremities and certain spine related problems. However, in regard to spinal maladies, we primarily use the ATM2 that we have had for two years now. We obviously use manipulation where indicated through motion palpation, but the next step is to introduce the patient to the ATM2 early on. It has an extremely dramatic effect on the patient as it almost always radically changes the pain syndrome immediately. So much so that the ATM2 has become an integral part of our therapy department. In fact, our therapy department now consists solely of the ATM2 and the Avicenna 7.5 W therapy laser. People love the results and the referrals are already sold on the protocols they will be put through provided they are candidates for this type of treatment.
The patients at our clinic know for a certainty that they will not have to enroll in weeks and weeks of care as is the rumor in so many communities about chiropractors. They understand the mechanics of what we are accomplishing and they go away with the confidence that they can self assess the need for future care.
I think the most dramatic result we have achieved with the ATM2 was a few months ago when a very fit and active woman was introduced to the unit. She came in with the complaint of low back pain, so painful she had to take 400mg of Ibuprofen prior to attending her Pilates class. On evaluation we found she was unable to bend forward more than 30 degrees before experiencing pain severe enough to abruptly stop her motion. We used the ATM2 immediately without manipulation to show her the possibilities without introducing chiropractic techniques since she had had a “bad” experience prior. We supported her in the forward bending protocol, she performed the initial resistance exercises the requisite 1 set of 10 repetitions as is prescribed for first time users. When she was done we had her perform the forward bending maneuver. You should have seen the look on her face. One could tell she was “searching” for the “pain” on her way down to the floor bending at the waist. When she palmed…palmed… the floor she was flabbergasted. No pain, no pain what-so-ever. She went to pilates that day and has had relief ever since.
Although this story is dramatic, it is not stand alone. We have numerous patients who have had similar results and most importantly they all experience wanted results in less time than they would have had we not used the ATM2.
